So if you read my last blog about living a "less" toxic lifestyle then you already know where my passion for sustainability and natural living came into place. I am not living this postcard lifestyle where everything I do is sustainable and everything I put on or in my body is chemical free. I am still learning after years of researching and stumbling across what works for others and adding them into my life slowly to see what works for me. Some of these steps work well for me and some of them are absolutly bonkers and I couldnt live my life any other way. Pick some advice, throw some out, do what makes you happy!

Here is the ultimate list to living a more sustainable lifestyle for not only the planet but you and our future generations to come!

RETHINK your choices

RESEARCH if you aren't informed

REFUSE single use

REDUCE consumption

REUSE everything you can

REFURBISH used items

REPAIR before you replace

REPURPOSE and be creative

RECYCLE as your last option

#1: Sustainable Kitchen

  • Beeswax or reusable wraps

  • wooden utensils, dish brushes and cutting boards

  • Glass jars, containers & food storage

  • reusable drying towels

  • Composting (not my thing but works amazing for others)

  • silicone baking mats and cupcake molds

  • Glass or metal straws

  • grow your own food

#2: Sustainable Bag

  • Reusable glass or metal water bottle

  • reusable grocery and produce bags

  • Thrifted wallet

#3: Sustainable Closet

  • Second hand shopping

  • naturally dyed and recycled materials

  • wood hangers

#4: Sustainable Bathroom

  • reusable makeup wipes or pads

  • reusable ear swab

  • wooden brushes

  • bamboo toothbrush

  • replace your shower curtain with a cloth (washable) one that will last forever

#5: Sustainable Home

  • dry erase or electronic notes, calendar and reminders

  • use old sauce jars for storage such as office supplies or cotton balls

  • DIY your cleaning & laundry supplies (makes more product)

  • Look into companies with concentrated cleaners and glass bottles instead of purchasing new bottles every time. (Grove, Jaws, Etc)

  • Support local business and decrease your online shopping

  • Investing in high quality items (bedding, furniture, kitchen ware, etc) will save you from repurchasing items over and over throughout your lifetime.

  • practice minimalism (The Minimalists on Apple Podcast or Marie Condo Youtube)

  • Research & Inform yourself on the importance of sustainability
