It's officially soup season and there is no better way to start it off other than some slow cooking chili.

My husband and I have been together for almost eight years now and we have altered our chili recipe probably once a year since then. I would have to say that we officially found the one and would love to share it with you! This is some hearty chili and WILL fill you up all day so alter as you wish.

INGREDIENTS

1 lb ground beef

1 lb ground turkey

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tsp Minced onion

1 chili packet (hot)

2 can tomato sauce

2 can sliced carrots (drained)

2 chili beans (one spicy one regular) not drained.

1 black bean (drained)

1 dark red kidney (drained)

1 light red kidney (drained)

  1. Add chopped onion or minced onion to a pan with minced garlic.

  2. Brown meat (I browned the ground beef and Turkey separately to cook evenly)

  3. While waiting for meat, Into crockpot add in 1 can tomato sauce, all beans, and carrots. Turn crockpot on.

  4. Drain meat. Add chili packet, 1 empty packet of water, 1 can of tomato sauce to frying pan. Add in meat and stir.

  5. Add meat to crockpot

  6. Set crockpot time depending on when you need it! I ate it as little at 2 hours on high, turning it to low after.

Notes :

  • You can use fresh chopped onion instead of minced.

  • you can add more or less beans depending on your preference.

  • some people add corn to their chili but we fell in love with carrots in ours and wouldn’t have it any other way. Veggies are optional obviously :)

  • This chili is mildly spicy just the way we like it. You can alter this by replacing spicy chili packets or spicy beans with regular.

Garnish options : sour cream, cheese, corn, cornbread, crackers, fritos, scallions, onions, tater tots, avocado, lime, bacon, jalapeños, OH THE POSSIBILITIES!
